I most definatley remember this animation 
It was one used as regular filler fayre between children's programmes in the early-mid 1970's.
I think i remember Boris being a woodsman who lived in the forest with his wife.I can't remember any specific episodes,but i'm sure each was only 5 minutes long.
Unfortunately i don't think Boris the Bold has ever been released on dvd,much like other European classic animatons such as 'The Mole' & 'Barnaby.'
