Posted by Tim The one with the clown you mention is almost certainly Camberwick Green ( 1966 )from the Trumptonshire trilogy : as the clown in that program definitely turns a roller board with the credits on it, with the delicate sublime music, for both the start & end credits. CG is of course out on DVD. Its unlikely another kids program would use a similar opening - especially given that Camberwick Green is one of the most famous, celebrated, & well-remembered programs from that period ( tho - as usual - I'm prepared to eat my hat [ pass the pepper ] if needed!)

i think I vaguely remember the chalky character ( or at least maybe ).
