This discussion has been going on for ages. I remember my recruiter telling my parents about the no touching/no cursing rules. And I was cursed at constantly and once even lightly choked by the neck. It happens. Some of this is just political correctness, some bs, and some of if is just older Marines, i.e. the 'Old Corps' Marines, just wanting to prove that is was tougher in there day. Whatever the reason, it's still the toughest and longest of any US military recruit training.
