Posted by Renee Sorry, thought I would just share that... Anyway, I have a couple questions that I hope someone wouldn't mind answering: Is there anything I can tell my mother that would ease her mind? She freaks out whenever I tell her I'm even thinking about joining the Marines. I talked to a recruiter yesterday. He was telling me that if I waited a couple years to join that it would be harder for me because I would be older, is there any truth to this? Also, one last question: How many months in advance (before graduating from college) should I contact a recruiter?

I keep hearing about all these people wanting to leave the Marine Corp, or have already gone AWOL. I'm thinking about 'trying out' for the Marines in a couple of years. I'm just wondering what in the world people are expecting when they join the Marines. I'm not expecting anything, and I think that's a good mentality to keep so that I won't be disappointed with my decision to go into the Marines.
