Instead, get in contact with the closest Marine Officer Selection Officer (OSO) as soon as possible, and explain your situation. Joining the Delayed Entry Program will not disqualify you from service as an Officer. I know someone who was in a similar situation, and applied for OCS while in the DEP. They were selected after they completed boot camp and MOS school, and then they reported to OCS. Your situation may be different than his based on the type of contract you have, current policy, and your own level of preparation for Officer Candidates School. The OSO will have all the best information, and will be able to help you figure out the best way to get where you want to go. Finding the contact info for the closest OSO can be tricky at times. You can go to MarineOfficer.com, and fill out the form on the website, but there is no guarantee they will call you with any urgency. You can call your local recruiter and ask, or you can call your school's NROTC department (I see you have a pitt.edu e-mail, so try calling CMU's NROTC department). Good luck, Semper Fi.

I don't think that it would be advisable to begin your career backing out of your enlistment, and I certainly don't think it would look very good to the Officer Selection board.
