I just came across an awesome program by Sunburst called EasyBook Deluxe. This program for grades 3-8 allows students to write and illustrate their own books. The writing tools include a spell-check, thesaurus, and text-to-speech option. Students illustrate with a drawing program that has lots of easy to use drawing tools, plus premade backgrounds, stamps, etc. I think any student would be motivated to write using this program!
