I discovered this idea on a website for AAC devices. For those of you that don't have the "AbleNet" junction boxes in which to plug switches, you can adapt your ordinary mouse to make it act as a large switch. You'll need an inexpensive 5 X 7 photo album without the photo pages, a sponge, and glue sticks.
Cut a space in the middle of the sponge the same shape as your mouse. Glue it to the inside of the photo album. Using the piece of sponge you have left over, glue a piece about the size of a quarter to the inside cover of the album just above the switch on your mouse. Now the student with limited hand motion can depress the outside of the album and operate the mouse.
