Since I serve 4 schools with three secondary, I have scanned frequently used worksheets especially in the areas of grammar and simple reading comprehension exercises I can use for stimuli for some of my low readers. This will eliminate the lugging around of workbooks. Although I have a portable printer I carry, I converted these files into Word, as every school has it, and I can print out what I need if I forget a cable or run out of ink. Also put these files on cd so I could actually use them on any school computer if my laptop malfunctions. Also found "Hot Potatoes" software for creating a variety of word games for vocabulary and grammar. ELR is also an excellent resource for short interactive on and offline speech activities. Most are very short, but the variety of activities across disorders is vast. I also bought SATPAC which is a context oriented word list generator based on finding facilitating contexts, but without the drudge of finding all those appropriate words by hand. If you are tired of trying to redo your IEP forms on Word everytime a revision is made, try the program "Omniform". It allows you to scan in forms and then fill them. Of course this doesn't solve all the problems with eligibility reports or other things you may have to deal with that are on NCR paper with numerous different color copies. Nevertheless, it allows easy printout of many routine forms that you usually find crumpled in the bottom of your briefcase. Hope these ideas help!
