Printing outlines

Hello, I have version 1.6 (yes I know it is old) that I have running on a fully patched version of XP Professional. This is on a P900 with 256MB RAM. Here is the problem, in the past when I would create a grid for my daughters cheaptalker it would print both the picture and also the outline arounnd the picture. This was prior to the XP upgrade, since then my system will print the pictures but not the outline around the picture. I have literally followed the manual word for word and still no outlines. Two questions, does this not work under Windows XP Pro? and should I just upgrade to the latest version to correct this error / problem? p.s. what is the latest version for Windows? 5? Thanks in advance for any help...
