If you are using Word, you can go to Insert...Symbol. Then select the font Lucida Sans Unicode. All the IPA symbols are in there. It's a little annoying at first to find them, but after using it a while you start to know where they are. My experience with this is that I high-light the inserted symbol and change it to size 10 font if you are using regular Times New Roman size 12 font. The size 10 Ludicda Sans Unicode is a little closer in size then.
