Posted by kpsteph on 9/9/2006, 10:31 pm, in reply to "IPA font" http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?site_id=nrsi&item_id=encore-ipa-download scroll down to where it says "SIL Encore IPA 93 Fonts Installer" in small letters under the text about SIL Encore IPA 93 Fonts. click to download the fonts. if your computer is set up like mine, it will download a file to your desktop entitled "silip12a". double click that file (the icon will look like a white screen with a blue bar across the top). once you double click that file to install, you should see several other files appear. there will be a folder titled "fonts". open it, and inside that folder are two folders. find the folder labeled "TT" (for True Type fonts). copy those three files (the icons will all have the letters 'TT" on them) in that folder (highlight the files and press ctrl+C or right click, "Copy"). then open My Computer; open up your Local Disk (C:) drive; (it might ask if you're sure, say yes!), then click on the "Windows" folder and then the "Fonts" folder. paste the three TT files into the fonts folder by pressing ctrl+V (or right click and "paste). you're done! i recommend saving all those files that originally popped up after you installed into one folder somewhere that you can access them if you need them later. now, when you open microsoft word, go to "Format" and then "Font", and if you look, you should have three different fonts beginning with the letters "SIL". i recommend SIL Doulos IPA, as it is the font most like Times New Roman and it works well in reports. hope this helps, if not, feel free to email me back!
