Posted by pat on 2/5/2002, 6:21 pm A piece of friendly advice: DON'T DO THAT!!!! :-) The SAFE way to change a label of a Boardmaker symbol is to paste the symbol and unwanted label onto your board. THEN click on the text tool (big A on the left side of the screen), click right next to the unwanted label, drag to highlight it, then type in what you really want the symbol to be called. Hope this saves you a little time & frustration, and keeps peace among co-workers! :-)
I conduct four levels of Boardmaker training, from beginner to way, WAY advanced. A common error that I see all the time is people using the "Picture Name Change" button to change the label over the symbol.
If you use the "Picture Name Change" button, you are permanently changing the name of the picture in the library, which is bad news if you have a poor memory (or 90,000 other things on your mind) and you forget to change it back. It's also bad news if other SLPs and teachers use the computer and are thwarted in their search to find a symbol they KNOW is in there, but is no longer available under the name they typed in because you changed it.
