The Snowflakes, after much deliberation, announce their first ever captain. Happily, they assign that weighty responsibility to none other than Dion Phaneuf. When asked about his new assignment Phaneuf responded, “I’m extremely happy to be part of such an exciting young team. I know as an expansion team, many of the experts are projecting us to finish near the bottom of our division but I truly believe we will surprise. We’re a talented group, watch out! Oh yes, and the city of Whistler absolutely rocks! I’ll miss playing for the Millionaires but come on, this is where it’s truly at!” Sadly Phaneuf’s comments shed absolutely no light on how he will handle adjusting to his new role as captain. Oh well, at least we know when we travel to Whistler Dion can tell us where the party’s at.
Interestingly, Whistler owner and GM Mark Palmer asked Phaneuf to select the team’s alternate captains. Dion chose Corey Perry and Marian Hossa saying, “Corey can really pound back the beers and Marian, well, I just don’t know any of the other guys very well yet so why not Marian, sounds good to me.”
Mr. Palmer has since called a meeting with his new captain and hired a PR consultant to work closely with the young Phaneuf.
