Spokane Rednecks
After much consultation and research, we have come to a clear decision.
Earlier in the season there was a problem with the spreadsheet and from games 21-35 Brian Gionta was not registering on the final scores. Mark discovered the problem after game 35 and brought it to our attention. Brad retro-scored the 15 games and there were only two times Gionta would have made a difference in the scores. One of them (game 23) would have given Burnaby an 8-8 tie with Nanaimo. Because we didn't want to have to set a precedent of retro-scoring, we just made a mental note and moved on without correcting anything.
What were the odds it would all come down to this? So if we don't retro-score Burnaby in game 23, we can't retro-score Spokane in game 76. Or, if we retro-score both games, Burnaby is in either way, as Burnaby owns the first tie-breaker of more Goals For.
Sorry Brad, but Mark takes the better record with or without retro-scoring. If we retro-score your game with me, we have to go back and fix Mark's score with Theron in game 23.
So neither game will be retro-scored and Burnaby is in. Andy McDonald will be moved back to Centre for the playoffs. (If I had picked up on that I may have had second thoughts about trading Heatley, and hopefully I'll get some good help on RW in the waiver draft)
Theron and I have discussed how to handle this going forward and we both easily agreed that each owner has to do their part to keep an eye on their team, and on each others teams. Therefore we propose that for next year and in these upcoming playoffs that there be a maximum two game limit on retro-scoring.
