I'll pass on this bad and tragic story.. told to me just an hour ago by Russ Bennett
Dean has died .. apparently of a heart attack while bycycling to the beach with his surfboard, near his home in Carpenteria.
This happened Monday.
Weirdly, authorities weren't able to identify him until yesterday (Tue), because he had no ID with him ...
I have no other details .. I forgot to ask Russ where/from whom he got this news.. But I think he said Mindy (Myers) might have more information.. She had riden with Dean from the Santa Barb area to the Terri Libbrecht memorial service..
Russ told me he had talked to him there, and said he looked hale and healthy ..same ol' Dean I remember ...
This is shocking and sad news to me ... Dean was one of my best friends in HS ..and we had taken a particularly memorable road trip together during the summer of '71.
(I've included my full name above so you can all know who this is ... I hope more people see this than the usual .. )
