Been distracted with long overdue maintenance on my house. Took more time to finally find several missing items when I got everything moved back in. Thought life would be smooth now. My 11 year old Caleb the Wonder Pug went from robust health to struggling to breathe in 48 hours.
Took him to the vet this morning. They put him on some IV's and said to call in two hours. Got home and the phone was ringing with the doc telling me that he went into cardiac arrest and they were performing CPR. I finally said "Please let him go." What a shock. Hard to prepare even when you intellectually know the reality.
What I found very interesting was the doc's story of treating a extremely old dog that had been left a $30,000 trust to take care of all his needs. When the guardians were told that there was nothing left the doctors could do they starting yelling at him "We've got money! We've got money!" How bizarre to think that money can breathe new life into a very sick old dog."
