apparently County Planning and Public Works will not allow the Extreme Makeover family to open the new Learning Center built by ABC to the public until they pave the 1 mile dirt road leading to the their home and Center - cost: estimated $1 million. I'm sure it's all about insurance liability. Another fine example of diabolically competing interests screwing up a good idea.
Not unlike the bizarro ironic road to seeking alternative energy sources and the mandate to "reverse global warming" - apparently Google has teamed up with the environmentalists and produced a map for the desert areas where you CANNOT build solar or wind generating facilities because of the over-zealous attempt to protect every last genus and specie of flora and fauna - the resulting map shows that there are very few places where energy plants and the related electrical transmission lines can actually be located.
Don't you ever get overwhelmed by the thought of getting boxed in or out of normal existence because of all the competing agendas out there? I sure do!
