If you do buy a new car, all of the sales tax and registration fees (even the higher rates) will be deductible on your Federal tax return starting this year - assuming you earn less than $125,000 solo or $250,000 as a couple and the car costs less than $49,500. This is really for those who are gainfully employed by someone else and can't normally take these deductions. We self-employed already can deduct these taxes and fees as part of our business expenses.
