as April fools day rapidly approaches next Wednesday (of course the "fools" being us - the taxpaying consumers), here's just a few of the fun things in store for us: 1) nearly 7000 gas stations around the State will be forced to close because their pumps have not been converted, once again, to the latest overly expensive environmental standards (I wonder if Al Gore and Fabian Nunez teamed up to buy stock in a gas pump conversion company?); 2) sales tax goes up to between 9-10% (this means that the sales tax alone may disqualify you from buying a new car); 3) Then on May 1 (a 30 day reprieve) we get to pay double for our annual auto registration fees - which also puts quite a whammy in buying a new car.
Don't you have the slightest bit of curiosity where all the windfall tax revenues to Cities, Counties and the State went over the past 6 years during one of the largest economic boom period in modern times as far as home sales, new construction, high gas prices, property taxes, sales revenues etc etc?
And even better yet - next year our new Governor will most likely be none other than slickster Antonio Villarigosa if the moronic voters of this State hold true to form.
(and Janice gets a partial pass on this since she fought the election of the Governator tooth and nail) - however I can't see how any of the other candidates would have been able or willing to clean up this sorry excuse for a state legislature that we have today.
