I know you'll know what I'm talking about but imagine they limited the number of "family" members that were allowed in the ER waiting room at any given time to say ONE - then there might only be about 12 people in the whole ER. It amazes me when they finally call someone's name to be treated that two rows of visitors stand up and try and walk in with the actual patient. I remember being in same day surgery waiting room one time and I swear there were 30 "family" members in there waiting for one patient to come out for a broken ankle. And of course they were all on their cells phones the whole time even though signs are plastered throughout the hospital - "NO CELL PHONE USAGE - SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT IN USE!" (Gotta get one of those cheap signal jammers from Radio Shack).
