In the Pasadena Star News I caught an article about a poor little bear cub that had burned all his paws in the fire at Shasta-Trinity National Forest west of Redding. The bear cub was rescued by a firefighter and turned over to Dept. of Fish and Game for initial treatment and then transferred to a "nonprofit wildlife care and rehabilitation center in South Lake Tahoe".
Aha! I sez to myself. Sounds lke something that only two TCHS graduates would do and checked it out. Yes, folks, it is indeedy Tom and Cheryl Millham at work and play. You can check out their new and improved website at www.ltwc.org as in Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care. (Hense the subject title a real Care Bear.)
If you go to the website you can see pictures of Li'l Smokey (as named by the rescuing firefighter which sounds a whole lot more compassionate than Mr.Parched Paws).
Once you see the pictures, especially one burned paw, you may feel so inclined to donate money toward his healing.
Yes, I did ask if they were attending the upcoming reunion and Tom said "At the time of the reunion, we are 'winding' down our rehab season. I just can't commit right now because we don't know what we will have in 'house' at the time. But, we are going to try to make it".
