- Picard Peanuts in Ontario (also "hottest snack ever!")

Anyone ever try Chip Nuts, from Picard Peanuts? Picard's is a small Mom & Pop chain with a few locations in small towns around southern Ontario (the ones I know of are in St. Jacobs, Niagara-On-The-Lake and on Highway 6 between Guelph and Hamilton). I used to live in Guelph and bought them often, but I moved to Mexico a year and a half ago, so I miss them (though I do have some coming to me courtesy of my brother). They have a lot of snacks (mostly peanut related) and chocolate/candy, and their Chip Nuts are the best. A peanut inside a crisp, potato chip shell; everyone's probably had some variation of these. They have just about any flavour you can think of: BBQ, sour cream & onion, garlic, salt & vinegar, all dressed, dill pickle, ketchup, nacho cheese, chili & cheese, hot chili...maybe a few others I can't remember right now. But for me, their best flavour is Blazin' Hot ("delicately roasted, then set on fire"). I love hot/spicey food of any kind, especially snacks, and these are by far the hottest snack I have ever had. When you eat one, you know it's pretty hot, but by the time you've eaten about five, you'll realize how truly hot they are (they're made with habanero). All the flavours of Chip Nuts that I listed above are also available as regular peanuts as well. Their stores are pretty big, and they have a great selection. They had a website that you used to be able to order from, but I haven't seen it in years. If anyone has any info on a new site (I've checked a few times over the past few years, but haven't found anything), please post it. They're definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the vicinity of one of their stores.

There is a company, B More Nutz in Baltimore that makes the same thing. They are called Chili nutterz and they are a mild flavored potato chip coated nut. They were different, my husband loves them. D

Yeah, I've had those, as well as most of the other snacks from Blair's Death Rain (courtesy of The Other 1/2). They're definitely hot, but I still give the nod to Picard.

Why yes I have had those, thanks to you! I really liked the Chip Nuts you gave me. Down here (in the U.S.) Frito Lay had a similar snack, not sure if they're still around, they were decent. Snack Buddy 4 Life

- Picard's peanut butter
Posted by Jean on 7/3/2008, 12:50 pm, in reply to "Re: Picard Peanuts in Ontario (also "hottest snack ever!")" 99.239.85.221
Dear Madam, On Wednesday July 2nd my husband and I were in your store just outside St. Jacobs. We made a two and a half hour drive to this location to pick up more Creamy Peanut Butter as I like your brand. We also shopped and had lunch in town. I purchased two cases of the peanut butter. Each case had a different number on it. I am curious to know the shelf life of the peanut butter as it will be just the two of us eating the peanut butter. The numbers are 1688-18:6 and 1688-18:02. Several years ago I purchased a supply of the peanut butter and kept it in the freezer. I am wondering since I have so many jars, to save space, could I leave them out of the freezer? Sincerely, Jean
