Having read the comments regarding Whitey and his exclusion from the Rosevale Rangers line up I think it is about time I had my say about Whitey. He was one of the finest left backs I ever had the pleasure of playing alongside. Strong, determined, and with a never say die will to win. A sweet left foot and a deadlier crosser of the ball I never saw, in fact Tosh McKinlay would marvel at his technique and would practice and practice to emulate his hero's skill, vowing one day to be as good as Whitey.......he tried, but never succeeded. Whitey, although a Partick man through and through, only failed to get into the Rosey Team because of a combination of a mix up with Department of Employment Work Permit (He was then signing on at Cupar rather than Partick, before his exile to a tax free haven in the North Sea where he bought an island and had it decorated to look like an oil rig) and the Three Foreigners Rule. Had it not been for these unfortunate circumstances I am sure he would have made it into the greatest team the world has ever seen.
