I have been told that I have multiple cherokee lines. I am seeking information on Rueben Ross and Mary Teackle that married in Guilford Co. NC. I also understand that Chief John Ross was part of the university in Guilford, NC. I am trying to establish a link. I have also seen information that leads me to believe that Mary Teackle's last name was short for a longer indian name. Many people shortened their names so they would not suffer persecution and teasing. Nancy Ross their daughter married Josiah Peak. Does any relative know more information, thanks!
