It is a wonderful book, as are Patrick Smith's other books! it is good to remind people that Florida has a rich history long before the arrival of the space program and theme parks. My mother was from the south central part of the state (Wauchula, Bowling Green, Hardee County)and his stories remind me very much of that area and all the citrus and cattle that used to be there, even when I was a child.
