Posted by charley priddy The Cocoa Beach Alumni Association is soliciting tax-deductible donations from individuals, clubs, and businesses to upgrade the Cape View Elementary School Cafetorium Sound System. The Cocoa Beach Alumni Association, Inc. (CBAA), is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 by alumni of our local public schools. Our purpose is to enhance and support education and related activities for the students in Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral public schools. We coordinate with each of the schools and seek to raise money and recruit volunteers from the entire community to support projects that will directly benefit the students at the schools. Cape View Elementary has identified the upgrading of the sound system in the Cafetorium as a high priority project that they would like to see funded this school year. The Cafetorium is a large multi-purpose room used as the cafeteria and auditorium. The existing sound system is old and in need of upgrades to make it possible for all students to hear clearly when school assemblies and other presentations are held on the stage in the Cafetorium. The details of the discounted quote are copied later in this solicitation. Funds raised from our alumni members and businesses to date have been committed to the project in the amount of $700 for phase one and $200 toward phase two. We believe that there are individuals, alumni, and companies that would be proud to support this project. We are asking for your corporate donation for the first phase of the project, in the amount of $1851. In late July of 2003 I met with Ms. Sharon Horton, principal of Cape View Elementary School to update Cape Views Wish List. The Wish List identifies projects which the Cocoa Beach Alumni Association will work on to enhance and support the students at Cape View. Upgrading the Sound System in the Cape View Cafetorium was carried over from the 2002-2003 school year. On August 25th the Cocoa Beach Alumni Association Board authorized a donation of $180 to seed this project. In September and October I worked with Jack Link of Jack Link Associates to obtain estimates for upgrading all of the components of Cafetorium Sound System.
