My husband and I visited the monument on May 8, 2010. We were distressed to see it covered with graffiti. I suppose this is a common problem, but it was sad nevertheless. Next time, I'll carry some cleaner with me to take care of the problem. We were surprised that the marker has been there since 1911.
I'm glad to know others are interested in the site. Good luck with the reconstruction plans!
