I have a gap in my research about the St Vrain family branch that continue west and ended in Calif. I would like to find the conection to Hypolite Peter (my great grandfather) and his brother Charles. They both ended up in Mariposa county had gold claims. My mother said Hypolite (called Pete here) said his parents came from New Mexico and he was part Navajo. Admitting Indian blood in early CA. was not prudent. I do know he was born at Mission San Miguel near Paso Robles in CA. I will greatly appreciatel any info. Thank you...
