Although I am a generation apart, and a woman, from the author, I feel some of the same things. I feel that the negative energy from my sister-in-law has also sapped my energy. Unlike the author, I am the one who is marrying-in to the family. However, my husband's sister has never been nice to me, made multiple passive-aggressive mean comments, and yet is nice to the girlfriends (not wives) of my husband brothers.
I've tried, and there is nothing to do.
