For some reason, they also link us with Joe Cole, as we go for a double 'swoop'. All very dramatic stuff, but I'll add them to our growing list of linked players. The Guardian states, with some authority, that our Transfer Fund for Santini, is around £6 million, rather than the £10 million earlier speculated elsewhere. The article does say however, that we have saved around £100,000 a week by offloading Poyet, Anderton, Zeige and Hirschfeld. If this is factual (and to me, the sums would seem about right), then clearly we have room to tempt a couple of decent players to the Lane. chelscum are also tipped to offload Claude Makelele, but The Guardian says that his wages of £70,000 a week will put off any potential suitors. Poor old Nick Barmby. (Remember him?). Since he has been offloaded by Leeds, his agent has been scuttling round looking for a club for him. Apparently the only two clubs to show the slightest interest are Hull City and Millwall. Naturally, poor Nick will have to drop from a five-figure weekly paycheck to mid-range four-figures to play in the 1st. He should have stayed at WHL. If there is to be any action in the market, keep your eyes peeled after tomorrow - Jacques and Frank will turn up bright and early at Spurs Lodge. Did I mention, by the way, that K2 is no longer eligible for Club 18-30 holidays?
