Posted by EastUpper on June 29, 2004, 9:43 am These are the standings so far, with a couple of new additions. I left Rommedahl in so I can keep a count of all the players we're linked to. 1. Dennis Rommedahl (Signed for charlton pathetic already). 2. Edgar Davids (Future now doubtful - Barca have apparently given up. Still a slight chance he might come). 3. Bixente Lizarazu (Reportedly now not keen on a move to Spurs - we're not in Europe). 4. Sylvain Wiltord (also being chased by Liverpool, Werder Bremen, Inter, Barca, PSG & Monaco). 5. Sidney Govou (No further reports since mid-June). 6. Lilian Thuram (Says he's not coming - he wants European football). 7. Sabri Lamouchi (No further info since mid-June). 8. Marek Jankulovski (Impressive Czech Republic midfielder. Also apparently being chased by Juve, but Udinese say we have offered a 'solid' £6 million). 9. Diomansy Kamara (His agent says they are in talks with us). 10. Gareth Southgate (Mclaren says he's staying put). 11. Jermaine Pennant (also sought by Liverpool). 12. Rodrigo Taddei (also wanted by Besiktas). 13. Javier Portillo (23-year-old Real Madrid striker). 14. Xabi Alonso (Real Sociedad Midfielder and Spainish international, whose agent says we are talking). 15. Seyi Olofinjana, 24-year-old, Nigerian-international midfielder, also allegedly interesting Newcastle, Everton, Palace, Wolves (?) and Monaco. 16. James Milner. Apparently we're still interested, but can't afford the asking price of around £6.5 million He's likely to go to Man U or Newcastle, though Liverpool look likely to have money to burn if Gerrard goes to chelscum. 17. Yossi Benayoun (24-year-old Israeli International, Racing Santander midfielder). Factual: Poyet - on a free. Anderton - on a free. Zeige - on a free. Hirschfeld - on a free. Acimovic - At Lille on loan, and looking increasingly likely to stay there. Rumour: Keller linked with a free to VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. Goran Bunjevcevic linked with a loan/trial with French club Bastia. Helder Postiga: Bid of £4 million for him from a Prem club. Atletico Madrid, Real Betis and Porto have all approached Spurs in recent weeks about the striker's availability. According to Spurs, he aint going nowhere. Historically, I'm told, players in a team which win a major tournament see their values increase by between 15 and 20%. No doubt The Reservoir Yids will be hanging back to see who comes out top of Euro 2004.
