Whoa.... I am almost tempted to accuse you of being the individual behind Jed McKenna.
There are lots of clues, but then, I'm not Sherlock Holmes, Holmes.
Then again, the clues or similarities could just be connecting threads in the fabric. I guess this could also be called synchronicity.
The whole caterpillar/butterfly thing sounds like McKenna. (Not to mention the caterpillar mention could be synchronistic with my own project involving caterpillars.)
Also, when I click on the link you provide, there are references to "wise" and "fool". Further exploring that link leads to another link which is entitled, "The Fool & the Wise Person". The publishing company that published the Enlightenment trilogy is named "Wisefool Press".
It's fun to think about. Of course, I seriously doubt the man or woman behind the name "Jed McKenna" would admit to being such person when called upon. Takes away from the mystique.
To Shawn, the owner of this forum, I'm sorry for posting discussion. I'll accept my internet spanking and move on. Thanks. (I'm the one who started the discussion forum you mention but the idea didn't catch on. By the way, this forum of yours appears to be popular. Please start a discussion forum!
