"Why don't you call yourself a Maharishi ditto-head."
Wrong person.
I've heard stories of the TM sphere being one big grape juice party of a cult. Besides, the hatha yoga Maharishi popularized in the west, by virtue of viral propagation and systemic watering down, is hardly the respectable system today that it once was.
Take a stroll around your average neighborhood and gaze at all the "yoga studios" and clueless glaze-eyed, latte-drinking hipsters with their fashionable neoprene "yoga mats", overpriced Lulu gear and empty talk of karma. That's the fallout of esoteric religion turned glossingly exoteric.
Ramana Maharshi was the real deal and existed well outside the reach of petty popular culture given that his teachings, like all nondual teachings, are logically irreconcilable and downright impenetrable to the ordinary person.
