Hi Me. What is "the realization" that you mention?
I'd agree with your view not to hold yourself separate. It seems to me that if we've been put on this world for any sort of reason, then not interacting with the people in it seems like passive resistance. I'm currently of the belief that life is for learning, and nothing provides life lessons quite like going to work and bringing up children! Living the life of a monk or hermit seems like a blissful holiday in comparison, but perhaps the grass is always greener elsewhere.
My service currently consists of giving my time as a Reiki practitioner for free one evening a week. It feels like it's more of a spiritual transaction when there is no money involved. The client gets healing, and I get the satisfaction of having helped someone feel better. Still that EGO is still there grumbling if a client walks off without saying thanks - I'm not quite at the level of unconditional giving it would seem!
What direction are you taking with your own Service?
I would however say that there are people who Serve not because they were drawn to it and choose to do it, but because they were "taught" it and don't know any other way of being. Women especially can find that they "Give" to others to the detriment of themselves. As with all things, balance is required.
Kind Regards,
Peter
