I would go the other way.
What I mean is...I speak with people saying that the emptiness inside of people can not be filled (even through spirituality). There is nothing that will fill the emptiness...for we are empty (borrowing a Buddhist term). We are an infinite void (so to speak). We are given a name, which becomes the box in which all of life's successes/failures and life story is put into. All our mental content of who we think we are. We forget we are the infinite void...and so we try to fill the emptiness with more stuff - physically, emotionally, mentally, and eventually spiritual things. But nothing will fill the box. We are not that. We have become uncomfortable with the emptiness that we are...which when we were born and had no content - we were perfectly happy and content in emptiness.
So I would suggest going the other way...instead of trying to fill the emptiness...I would dive into that emptiness and embrace it.
If you want to speak more about this (as this is not a discussion board), feel free to email me (or anyone else)...eric@awaken2life.org
