Having similar values are very important for a couple to get along, but often it's not really a values issue, it's about communication. If it really is a values issue, however, then compromise is the only real option, meaning that you two have to a work out an acceptable mid-point between what you think is acceptable and what he thinks is acceptable. If he has different values and won't compromise, then it doesn't sound like you have a lot of options.
