Thank you for your detailed reply WBEN, yes many good guys worked on South Coast Radio (founder,Peter O'Neill)and went on to bigger and better things including Atlantic 252.
By way of a 'Thank you' to you WBEN, I'll ensure that the next one of my production tapes that goes up on the Archive will be the TOOLBOX with the South Coast Radio jingles, off the Master, I hope you will enjoy them. Other items will be there too, some ERI jingles off the Master I think sit alongside the SCR set.
In my time as Station Manager at South Coast, when I brought in the 'Music Leader' concept (Tony Allan's v/o's are on the same tape, I think)
I found Cork to be a fabulous place, some of my best memories are from that time.
South Coast Radio's loss of its 10,000 watt AM transmitter was the beginning of the end for the station, and even though the Fire Department, Garda and ESB stated it was an act of arson.
The time was up for South Coast, Brendon (the 10kW), was vital for the expansion of the station. without it, National and International advertisers would not buy large blocks of airtime, instead, they went for weekly spots sold on a daily basis.
WBEN you have reminded me of so much, thanks for that. I'm aiming to get a host of new encodes up by Monday, including the TOOLBOX I mentioned that might interest you. Check the Archive over the weekend.
Peace and Long Life,
Don.
