Hey everyone
As you'll all know, this Tuesday 30th December will mark 20 years since the closure of the pirates on 30/12/88. On that fateful day, over 100 pirate radio stations operating in cities, towns and villages right around the country closed down in blaze of glory following the introduction of the Radio & Television Act 1988, which imposed fines of up to £20,000 and/or two years in prison for anyone involved with unlicenced broadcasting - enough to frighten off even the most enthusiastic of DJs..!
To commerate, a night of reminiscing and comradarie for those involved in the radio industry (and hopefully a fight or two for entertainment!) will take place this Tuesday December 30th in Scruffy Murphys pub (off Lower Mount St) at 8pm.
Sorry for the short notice but it should be a great night and it is fitting that we commerate such an eventful day by all meeting up for a few laughs.
Hopefully see you all there!
