Nova was always thinking one step ahead of the competition....anyone remember the spoken word bit in 'We Built This City' by Starship? It went "...your favorite radio station, the city by the bay, the city that rocks, that never stops". But when it was played on Nova, it featured a dropped-in section with a Tony Allan voiceover which promoted Nova instead!
Was also amusing to hear Nova insisted on playing the far more obscure "European Queen" by Billy Ocean, instead of the hit version "Carribean Queen"...always used to take people by surprise...
Also, always wanted to know who exactly at Nova was the big Michael Franks fan? MF is quite an obscure artist, but I heard him a lot on Nova in the 80s, and later on Q102. Anyone remember "When Sly Calls (Don't Touch That Phone)? Thanks to whoever it was at Nova that kept playing it, I've been an MF fan to this day!
