Very recently I was reading some of the comments left by Sybil in the aftermath of Chris's passing. She mentioned something about some kind of award at the PPI's. Well this year, how about we lobby the PPI to award the lifetime achievment award to Chris, for the services he made to Irish brodcasting over the years. Last year they gave it to Des Whelen of WlR and he has nothing on what Chris did for radio in Ireland.
Is there anyone in radio today that has not been influenced or directed by something that Chris Cary brought to this country? Did John Clarke think when he was on Nova that he would one day running a national station? Did Brian Dobson think he was going to be the anchor of the national news? How many more people are out there that either got their start in Nova or Energy or somewhere else thanks to Chris Cary?
I think now would be a good time for this industry to give back to someone who gave so much. I think this would be a fitting tribute to Chris. Any opinions on this?
