I first heard Chris in 1967 on Caroline, he was one of the heroes who joined when many of the others opted to leave 'the lady' in her moment of need. I also remember him playing a key part with the re-launch of Caroline in 1972/3.
Somehow I missed the first Nova years, and have kicked myself ever since, though I did hear some of Energy 103 before it closed.
Chris pioneered satellite radio, and I used to listen to his wonderful 'Satellite Surgery' programme every night on the Nova reincarnation on Astra in 1990. I even 'phoned in a couple of times. He was always so patient with people having problems with their ropey Filmnet decoders and Amstrad receivers!
The 'Caroline' weeks in 1991 were also memorable, and I still have tapes of him and Keith Lewis - great radio!
I met Chris only once, in 1972 at the Offshore Radio celebration at Walton on the Naze. He was a very successfull businessman at the time, but was happy to spend time talking radio with a motley collection of Anoraks.
Chris will be remembered as a radio and satellite pioneer, and will be missed by so many.
