Hi all, I was one of those guys who was just blown away by Nova and Sunshine and the audacity (meant in a really good way) of what they were doing. I was hooked and really wanted to work in Radio, I went to Pirates, Local Stations, RTE Radio 1 (where I played the Nova closedown as part of a media show) Fab! and the BBC and now teach radio.
My own dad died not so long ago and what was helpful was people telling all the stories of how he had been.
I never met Chris, but I remember the first time I saw Billboards for KISS and Nova, pirates, flaunting their existence and I thought, Jesus, in the Rubble that was 8O's Ireland, Chris Carey just DID it. In an earlier post I said, Chris was one of the people who showed us the Celtic Tiger before it even existed. That thought me more about life than all my years in school to date and it has always been an inspiration to me. Just do it
I never met Chris, but I'm sure those of you who did, have some great stories of inspiration and fun.
I’m sure his family and all his friends here would love to hear them. As a friend said to me today, there is a movie in this mans life!
