Sybil,
I have been checking over the site in the last few weeks aware of what was going on thanks to your constant updates, always expecting to read that he was on his way back..........but sadly not to be.
To say Chris was a big part of Irish radio is of course an understatement,He created music radio for Dublin and dragged all of us, listeners included, with him to the place at the number one slot.
I have been thinking of the first time I met him and you. Do you remember those days in the Victor Hotel ? We put an ad on the air on Southside Radio for newsreaders and end up hiring two people. The guy was Bryan Dobson and the lady drove a red mini and was called Sybil ! I well remember the party for your 21st at your parents house on Stillorgan Road.......... First time I met Chris was after a 2 hour on-air audition (arranged by Jason Maine). Be here tomorrow night was what he said and I was. This was Radio Nova on 88FM just for Dublin and eventually we all got blase about answering the phone to people from Norway wanting requests....that's what happens when you run 50Kw on AM.
We all went our separate ways but I don't think anyone of us will ever forget where it all started, and the man responsible or the fact that Chris Cary is owed so much by all of us.
God bless you and your family at this awful time. Keep your strength and be brave for the kids.
He will be remembered for many years to come.....
God rest you Chris.
