Had the damnedest conversation with the Hope FM desk reception bloke as Tim & I left on Weds. He asked who's hot right now in Bmth & Tim proffered Sonic Arkestra, to which I replied that some may not even describe it as music, being strange freeform collective improv, whereupon desk bloke mentions DJing with early Gong in '69 @ Boscombe Ballrooms (now O2 Academy). Turns out his sister dated Kevin Ayers! He's apparently not well right now from vino collapso
Absolutely hammered the first Soft Machine 'clocks' album on vinyl, but never caught 'em live. Remember resenting Hopper replacing Ayers on Vol Two, but have since re-enjoyed it on CD paired with Vol One. Loved Third, of course. My memories of post-Softs Ayers Whole World @ Poole Art College (now KUBE) & post-Softs Wyatt's Matching Mole @ Winter Gdns are indelible
