Posted by Chelsea on 1/24/2007, 6:15 pm What training is required for someone who wants to be an instructor/trainer? What jobs in the horse world could someone my age get, and if so how would I go about finding them? Lastly, I was wondering if anyone could give me their opinons on the following: Abou 7 or 8 months ago I had an instructor who had to leave the barn where I take lessons. I learned a lot from the lessons I had with her, and we shared a special bond. Before she left she asked me if I wanted to ride a horse at the barn her and her husband own and help train her and her daughters horse, and also possibly learn about how to ride race horses because she needs someone one to excersize the ones she breeds. She gave me her cell phone number, and we had a hard time getting eachother on the phone and we lost connection. Now I'm strongly regretting not trying harder to get in touch with her, so I dug out her cell number and called her... but apparently her service was canceled. I have her last name, but I'm really unsure about lookin up her number and calling her to see if the offer still stands. Does anyone else think I've left it for too long to call back, or that I should give it a shot? Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this and leave their opinons. Chelsea

Hey, my name is Chelsea and I'm 14 years old. I've been riding for 6 years, and horses are my passion. Since I started riding my family hasn't really had that much money, so I've been taking only one lesson a week, but now that things are picking up many oppertunities have arose now that we have a bit more money.
My first question is what advice does anyone have to offer to someone who wants to run a stable that offers boarding and riding lessons? Is there any specific courses in college that can be taken for that? Also I would love to rescue horses deemed "useless" and find them good homes.
xo.
