Hey Chelsea! These all sound just like bad habits which are very hard to break, however, i do have some advice for the second question about letting your fingers open. Try holding little rocks or pebbles in your hands along with the reins. Try and keep the rocks/pebbles from falling out. This will halp you not let go. Also, try tying knots in the reins, about where you want your hands to be, and hold onto the knots. I think the rock/pebble idea works a little better. Good luck!
