help! I have been asked to judge a very small, country schooling show at a friend's farm and riding school in southern Virginia. I have never judged a show before, but I have many years of riding and showing experience - showed as a junior in equitation and hunters and currently as an a adult amatuer. My friend said she asked me to judge because she trusts my judgement and eye and she said that she knows I will be empathetic to the kids efforts. The show will be almost all kids from her school and a neighboring school and she said the mood is one of fun and the kids showing off what they have learned. But even though its informal, I want to do a good job, be fair to the kids and hopefully be organized. Can you recommend some basic reading on judging? Also, do you have some sage advice for me? I am excited about this opportunity, but nervous.
