This would be the best person to give you advice as he or she knows both you and your horse and can show you what you need to brush up on. As for open shows, to the best of my knowledge they are better suited to more experienced riders. Has your horse shown before? If not, it would be best to have an advanced rider take her into the ring first and make sure she's okay with everything. If she has shown before, and is calm about it, maybe you should try a few novice classes to get the hang of it (some novice classes are walk, trot only.. others are walk, trot, canter). As always, it's best to seek the opinion and help of your coach when trying something new. Take care and good luck, Katie
