Posted by Katie What is acceptable and unacceptable in the show ring - in terms of rider attire and horse equipment - depends on what class(es) you'll be riding in. For example, if you're riding in a jumper class, flash nosebands and running martingales are fine. These same pieces of equipment would get you disqualified from a hunter class. You must also take into consideration the area you'll be showing in, as different counties and organizations can have different rules. Good luck! Katie

Hi anna,
Your best bet would be to contact the officials from the show you'd like to enter and ask them. Prize books (also called prize lists or rule books) contain a great deal of information that should be helpful to you, including contact information for the shows organizers and rules for that particular show. If you've got questions from there, the organizers can provide further information.
