Hi my name is Megan and I'm 13 years old And I've been riding for about 5 years. At a special camp I go to in the summer, you get a horse to take care of and ride for 2 weeks. Everyday we have a flat and a jumping lesson. They also have weekend camps to give you a chance to ride horses or ponies you weren't able to during regular camp. So at one weekend camp I rode a little pony named Timbit. He has a bad reputation for being out of control and just plain mean. But I thought I'd give him a shot for my flat lesson in the morning, and he was really good. He was speedy, but if speedy is all he is, I could handle it. So I got him again for the jumping lesson. Two words, NOT FUN. I fell off the first jump I did. First of all, good luck to anyone who tries to get him trotting up to a jump, let alone a controled canter. He doesn't waste anytime, and gallops up to every jump. After I fell I got back on and continued the lesson. I had to do one jump at a time and slow him down to a walk before doing the second jump. He has an amazing jump, and once he calmed down he was very fun. Since my regular instructor doesn't know him, I don't know who to ask for advice, I really want to ride him this summer, but I don't know how to correct his going crazy and taking off before and after jumps. Does anyone have advice?
